You know, nearly every day I am approached by customers who want to know if the Earl Stewart they see on TV is the Earl Stewart they meet at the dealership. They want to know what all the talk is about - is there really a car dealer in town who is not only an ethical straight-shooter but one who is also immediately accessible to his customers and prospective customers?

Of course I have my own, personal feelings about the kind of guy I am and the kind of business I run, but I have to leave the ultimate judgement in the hands of the folks who come here and experience things for themselves. I can tell you that the vast majority of the people I meet enthusiastically let me know that I am "the real deal" and that I "walk the walk". But as I said, you cannot just take my word for it - see for yourself.

This company was founded by my father, Earl Stewart Sr., in 1937 when he opened Stewart Pontiac Co. on South Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach. Over the decades, we opened several different dealerships culminating with the establishment of Stewart's Lake Park Toyota in 1975. We changed the name to Earl Stewart Toyota in 2003.

Although we built a reputation as a customer-friendly dealership throughout the history of the company, it has really been the last five years that truly define us. It was then when we charted a 180 course away from the traditional practices of most dealerships and began to market this change to the consumers of South Florida. We abolished our dealer fee. We established a strict anti-price gouging policy (no mark-up over MSRP like most dealers). We established clear and easy ways to have instant access to management and me (the now-famous Red Phone). We do not engage in deceptive advertising (bait and switch). We do not hold "big sales" every weekend. We don't yell. We don't hype. We offer a zero-pressure environment that is comfortable and friendly. You receive the same amount of attention and courtesy regardless of when you are prepared to make a decision to purchase.

We are a rarity among car dealerships: a family owned and operated store in a time when dealerships are being acquired by corporate mega-dealer groups. A family run dealership has more at stake than a corporate manager: our very name is on the line every day. I own the store and the buck stops with me, not a board of directors in a far-away state. I operate the store along with my wife, Nancy, and my three sons, Stu, Jason, and Josh.
