The 2017 Toyota 86 Performance Specs are Looking Awesome
Over the years, Toyota has built a trusted legacy for sporty performance with exciting models like the Sports 800, the AE86 Corolla, and the 2000GT. Now, Toyota is taking the next step with the upcoming release of the all-new 2017 Toyota 86, which boasts performance specs that are sure to impress. Find out all about what this sports coupe can do on the track, and get ready for its arrival at Earl Stewart Toyota in Lake Park, FL.
The Model it Replaces
The 2017 Toyota 86 will replace the outgoing 2016 Scion FR-S, which has been discontinued. The Scion FR-S represented the sports coupe segment with confidence, giving drivers one of the most accessibly priced models in the segment while also delivering commanding presence on the road thanks to rear-wheel drive, precision steering, and sporty, well-balanced suspension work. We have every reason to expect all of this and more with the upcoming 2017 Toyota 86. In fact, Toyota has already mentioned that the already tightly tuned suspension should deliver even swifter responses and sportier handling on the road.
What’s Under the Hood
The 2017 Toyota 86 will be powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder engine, which will deliver a commanding 205 hp and 156 lb-ft of torque, a noticeable improvement over the output of the Scion FR-S’s 2.0L inline-four. Because of enhanced performance and upgraded design characteristics, the 2017 Toyota 86 should be able to improve over the Scion model’s sprint time of 6.5 seconds. Power will be delivered to the rear wheels via a smooth-shifting six-speed manual transmission or an available six-speed automatic transmission, depending on your preference.
